Biography
Sihle Zikalala is a South African politician, born on 6 August 1973 in Ndwedwe, South Africa.
He was the 8th Premier of KwaZulu-Natal and also the Provincial President of the African National Congress (ANC).
He has held various leadership positions within the ANC and is currently a member of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature.
From 2016 to 2019, he served as MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environment in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.
A remarkable and politically inclined man, he influenced many changes and advances within his party, the African National Party (ANC).

Early life
Sihle Zikalala was born on August 6 in Ndwedwe, Natal, South Africa.
He completed his secondary education in Natal and went on to university afterwards.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science and a Bachelor of Management with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2017.

Political career
Sihle Zikalala joined the African National Congress (ANC) in 1990 and began working full-time for the ANC in Ndwedwe from 1993 to 1994. He has held several leadership positions in the ANC.
Sihle Zikalala is a member of the party’s Million Meyiwa Branch and served as ANC Regional Chairman from 1995 to 1996 before being elected to the ANCYL Durban North Regional Executive Committee in 1996. He then became Regional Chairman in 1997. He served as Regional Chairman until his election as ANCYL Provincial Secretary in 2000.
He also served as an Advisor in Ilembe District from 196 to 2000. Sihle Zikalala, after serving as an Advisor, was elected Secretary General of the African National Congress Youth League in 2004. He was elected Deputy Provincial Secretary of the KwaZulu-Natal ANC branch in 2008, and shortly thereafter, he became Provincial Secretary in 2009.
Sihle Zikalala, on 8 November 2015, contested against his opponent Senzo Mchunu, for the position of Provincial Chairperson, and he won by 105 votes by securing 780 votes out of the total 1459 votes cast for himself. As a result of this victory, Sihle Zikalala was succeeded as Provincial Secretary by Super Zuma when he became Provincial Chairperson.
On 26 November 2015, he was sworn in as a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Super Zuma.
In June 2016, Willie Mchunu, the newly elected Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, appointed Sihle Zikalala to the position of MEC of Economic Development, Tourism and Environment.
He assumed office on 7 June 2016, succeeding Michael Mabuyakhulu. Sihle Zikalala was re-elected unopposed for a second term as the party’s Provincial President in July 2018.
Immediately after the May 2019 elections, Sihle Zikalala was selected as the candidate for Prime Minister of KwaZulu-Natal to succeed Willie Mchunu. He was elected on 22 May 2019 and officially assumed the position on 27 May 2019.
