Early life
Siza Mzimela says she is her parents’ second child.
She has ten siblings, including five brothers and five sisters, born into a family of 11 children.
Her parents raised her in South Africa, but she was raised by her brother in Swaziland.
At first her brother moved back to the country to study. After graduating, he settled in the countryside.
He then took on the responsibility of feeding some of his siblings.
Education
Siza Mzimela was educated in her new country after moving to live with her brother. When she finished her studies, she returned to South Africa.
Siza Mzimela holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Eswatini.
She also studied at the School of Global Business Studies (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria.

Career
Siza Mzimela started working as a research analyst for South African Airways (SAA), the country’s flagship airline, in January 1996.
She later rose to the position of CEO, overseeing SAA’s global sales and Voyager loyalty program. She held this position for 2 years, from April 2010 to October 2012.
Siza Mzimela also served on the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association in Miami, Florida and other prominent roles.
She took over as interim CEO of South African Express in 2017 after being appointed to the role. Siza Mzimela was appointed Managing Director of Transnet’s freight rail division in April 2020.
Siza Mzimela was Executive Vice President of Global Passenger Services at SSA for one year, from 2001 to 2002. She became Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Travel at SSA the following year, from 2002 to 2003 .

More opportunities appeared after 7 years in her new position. From 2003 to 2010, she served as Executive Director of SSA.
She was hired as CEO of SSA in the same year 2010. In 2012, she resigned after two years of service.
In December 2012, Siza Mzimela became Executive Chairman of Blue Crane Aviation and held the position until May 2018.

Siza Mzimela and former SSA colleagues Theunis Potgieter and Jerome Simelane teamed up to create something meaningful.
