Apparently, Sofia Richie created a dance trend on TikTok that made some users angry because of its simplicity. The dance itself originates from a video that the fashion model and youngest daughter of singer Lionel Richie made late last month with comic influencer Jake Shane.
In the clip posted to Shane’s (octopusslover8) TikTok on Thanksgiving Day (November 28), Sofia and Shane happily dance to Lola Young’s song “Messy”, in which Sofia rhythmically sways her arms and backs away. Shane’s side before they both made a “speaking” gesture with their fingers at the point in the song where the lyrics were, “And I opened my big mouth.”
So what’s all the fuss about at the dance? Well, after it created a wave of dancing copycats on the app, some users started speaking out about the apparently burger-free nature of the trend, pointing out that Sofia and Shane simply nonchalantly danced rhythmically to the song without adding anything special. in the way the dance moves.
In fact, as at least one TikTok user noted, just having a little rhythm in the body can rival the dance moves Sofia and Shane show off in their videos.
In a response on TikTok, Strawhatjulia said: “People are making ‘Sofia Richie’s dance’ a trend and – I can’t, I can’t.”
She continued, “Like, just dance back and have a rhythm. Like, if you could listen to a song and hear [beats] 1, 2, 3, 4 — 1, 2, 3, 4. You can do it. I promise you can do it.”
She added, “They said, ‘Stop — it’s so easy.’ Because it’s really easy. She’s really just stepping back and like, [bobs head] sway.”

Both Sofia and Shane are huge stars on TikTok – Sofia, 26, currently has 3.7 million followers on the popular video-sharing platform, while Shane has close to that number at 3.3 million .
Sofia now goes by the name Sofia Richie Grainge after marrying music executive Elliot Grainge in 2023. They have a daughter together, Eloise, born earlier this year.
