Early life and education
Steve Kelvin Bannon was born on November 27, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. His father is Martin J. Bannon Jr., a telephone lineman and middle manager at AT&T, and his mother is Doris Herr Bannon, a housewife.
Steve Bannon graduated from the private Catholic Benedictine College preparatory school in Richmond, Virginia, in 1971 and went on to Virginia Tech. He served as student body president and worked at a nearby garbage dump during summer vacations.
Steve Bannon received a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the Virginia Tech School of Architecture and Urban Studies in 1976. In 1983, Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service awarded him a master’s degree in national security studies while he was still serving in the Navy. In 1985, Bannon graduated cum laude from Harvard Business School, completing his MBA program.

Steve Bannon began serving in the United States Navy in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Bannon was a surface warfare officer aboard the destroyer USS Paul Foster in the Pacific Fleet. Later, he served as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon. His responsibilities at the Pentagon included preparing reports on the status of the global naval fleet and managing communications between senior leaders.
After serving in the military, Steve Bannon was also hired by Goldman Sachs as an investment banker in the M&A department. In order to help Goldman Sachs increase its visibility in the entertainment field, he moved from New York to Los Angeles in 1987. After two years at Goldman Sachs’ Los Angeles branch, he was promoted to vice president.

Bannon has been married and divorced three times. He has three daughters, Maureen Bannon, Emily Pickard and Grace Pickard; he was married to Kathryn Susan Hoff. In 1988, Bannon and Hoff divorced and had a daughter named Maureen.
In April 1995, Bannon married a second time to former investment banker Mary Louise Piccard. Three years after their marriage, their twin children were born. In 1997, Piccard filed for divorce.
Model Diane Clohesy is Bannon’s third wife. The two married in 2006 and separated in 2009. However, he seems to be still single, and his relationship is not known to the media.
