SZA Glastonbury Headlining Set Problem: Singer attracts small audience, faces technical difficulties

SZA was one of the headliners at this year’s Glastonbury Music Festival, but many fans took to social media to share their disappointment after the artist drew a small crowd compared to Coldplay and Dua Lipa, who both had huge crowds at their Pyramid Stage shows.

According to the Daily Mirror, SZA was the headliner at Worthy Farm on Sunday night. Before she took the stage, many noticed that the musician had a smaller audience, even as she performed.

Audiences watching the program via live-stream also expressed disappointment when they saw part of the audience area empty.

“Strange, she has great success but maybe not enough. So is SZA a local artist??” one person wrote.

“Sunday night’s headline acts should be powerful or legendary acts that everyone can sing along to. Terrible choice,” another added.

“Which is really a shame because SZA is a truly amazing, exciting artist. Probably not Sunday night at Glasto, though,” another wrote.

In addition to having a smaller audience at her performance, the R&B singer also encountered technical difficulties.

According to NME, the microphone sounded muffled and muddy throughout the first 30 minutes of the show, making some parts of her song inaudible.

The problems later resolved when her voice sounded clearer, but there were times when it got worse again.

“justice for sza!! What did Glastonbury do to her mic to make her voice sound like that, this is so painful,” one person wrote.

“Sad to see sza getting backlash about her mic not working, people not knowing about her and her crowd being so small at glasto,” another added.

As of this writing, SZA has not yet addressed the issues she has encountered on social media.

Glastonbury is one of the world’s biggest music festivals, with over 200,000 people attending each year. Fans have recently been frustrated by overcrowding at its smaller venues.

The issue forced organizers to close off some areas to prevent crowding problems, and a musical act’s performance was cut short for the safety of attendees.

Among the acts playing smaller stages was Charli XCX at Levels on Friday night, with fans voicing their concerns on social media, saying the line to see her DJ set was longer than the line to get into the festival.
