Zach Bryan posted on X mentioning Taylor Swift before deactivating his account Zach Bryan/X

The post was controversial not only because it directly compared Swift to Kanye West, with whom she has had a years-long feud, but also because it insulted her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Travis Kelce.

In multiple apology posts on Bryan’s Instagram story on Thursday, he admitted he had been drinking when he posted and encouraged his followers not to “drink and tweet.”

“Just so you know, I wasn’t there for Taylor last night. I was drunk comparing two records and it was wrong. I know there’s a lot of stuff going on around Ye and I’m just talking about the music,” Bryan wrote on his Instagram story. “I love Taylor’s music and I hope people know that I’m human and post stupid shit. Hopefully one day I can explain this to her.”
