In a previous interview, Swift explained, “The metaphor in ‘Down Bad’ is me comparing the idea of being love-bombed.”
“Where someone rocks your world and overwhelms you and then abandons you. This girl gets abducted by aliens but she wants to stay with them.”

Eagle-eyed fans have been connecting the dots between her angelic outfit choices and speculating that a new single titled “Down Bad” could be coming soon or a remix could be on the way as well.

Digging deeper into the matter, some social media users noticed that in both photos of Swift taken at the VMAs and the after-party, there were two people standing underneath the UFO on her dress, hinting at a possible collaboration with another artist on the remix.
Sabrina Carpenter also touched on the space theme during her VMA performance. Her performance of her new hit “Taste” included a memorable moment when she kissed an alien on stage.
