A famous 20-year-old Thai pop singer named Ping Chayada passed away after developing life-threatening complications from a neck massage.
According to The Mirror, the singer, whose galactic performances and million-strong fan base have made her a rising star, has endured a trying month starting with the murder. -xa twisted his neck on October 5.
Chayada sought relief from persistent neck and shoulder pain but quickly found herself in a state of increasing distress. She took painkillers two days after the massage, not knowing that her symptoms were not normal.
In the following weeks, she went to the massage parlor several times, thinking it would ease the pain.
Towards the end of October, Chayada began experiencing numbness in her arm and went to the hospital on October 30 for treatment, saying she could not stand the pain anymore. Her condition worsened despite medication and she was hospitalized on November 6 because of severe pain in her neck and legs that left her unable to move.
Chayada described the development of his symptoms in a heartfelt Facebook post, sharing his situation with his 22,000 followers.
“I thought it was just another side effect of massage,” she wrote. “After two weeks, I started having so much pain that I couldn’t lie on my back or stomach.”
Doctors diagnosed her, after a series of tests, with transverse myelitis, an inflammatory disorder of the spinal cord.
She was discharged from the hospital after treatment on November 11 but was readmitted on November 18 after having seizures and increasing stiffness.
Chayada was transferred to the intensive care unit on November 22 and later fell into a coma. She died on December 8 of septicemia or blood poisoning.
In response to her death, local health authorities said they would investigate the circumstances surrounding her massage.
All seven licensed masseuses at the parlor where Chayada was treated are under investigation as authorities try to verify whether proper procedures were followed.
Chayada’s death has sparked debate about safety standards in the practice of massage therapy, especially when it comes to high-pressure techniques.

Provincial health director Vickie Kam told reporters that an autopsy will determine the cause of the 20-year-old woman’s death.
