JoJo Siwa’s photos from her Miss Gunn The magazine photos were posted online on September 23 and caused mixed reactions.
In the magazine cover, 21-year-old Siwa can be seen wearing a rhinestone chest plate shaped like a male torso, designed by Kyle Farmery. To complement the chest plate, Siwa also adorned rhinestone panties, gold straps and boots.
The photo that caught the attention of the online community was a photo of her squatting and her butt looked like a male appendage. This photo caused a backlash online with many saying that they disapproved or embarrassed Siwa herself.
“She’s really trying so hard,” one person wrote.
“WHAT IS THIS OUTFIT?”, another wondered.
“The only way she can maintain attention is to shock people and make them talk negatively about her,” another added.

However, there are also some people online who speak up to defend her.
“Don’t hate me for saying this but I think she already ate it,” one X user said.
“Many of you will be scared to say she chewed but I didn’t!”, another joked.
“Welcome back lady gaga?” another user added.
Siwa has yet to respond to the controversy.
The star has been open about her LGBTQIA+ identity in the past. More recently, she spoke to Demi Lovato about how it’s affected her career, especially her relationship with Nickelodeon.
“Everything changed after I came out. The way they communicated with me, the way they worked with me changed, the way they developed my work changed. Everything changed,” she said via The decision maker.
She shared that she was not invited to the 2022 Nickelodeon show. Kids Choice Awards, although she has participated in many Kid’s Choice awards shows before.
During her conversation with Lovato, Siwa claimed that Nickelodeon said her not being invited was an “accident.”
“I was basically rejected by the company. They said [not being invited] was an accident. I guess I just didn’t realize, at my young age, how ‘scary’ it was. I think [coming out] “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t think coming out is scary. I wish there wasn’t a stigma around it, but there is,” Siwa added.
A company representative spoke with Hollywood Reporterwhere they said they were unaware of the incident Siwa was referring to.
“We were not aware of the incident JoJo is referring to and she is certainly not being boycotted by Nickelodeon. We have valued and supported JoJo throughout our incredibly successful collaborations, including a JoJo-themed Pride collection at a major national retailer, among many others. We continue to cheer her on and wish her all the best,” the rep said.
In 2017, Siwa signed with the network and appeared in the film Boom! as well as other special promotions Nickelodeon’s Non-Valentine’s Day Special And Nickelodeon’s Ultimate Halloween Haunted HouseShe also appeared in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
