The President protested against Atiku on the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway

The President has hit back at former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar following his criticism of the Lagos-Calabar coastal expressway project.

In a statement issued yesterday, the President dismissed Atiku’s claims as false and ignorant, accusing him of trying to sabotage the landmark infrastructure project.

The Federal Government recently announced the commencement of construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal expressway, a move aimed at boosting economic development and connectivity across nine states.

However, Atiku has raised concerns about the award of the project to Hitech Construction Company Limited, questioning the transparency of the bidding process and the cost implications.

In response, the President highlighted the transformative impact of the coastal highway on the Nigerian economy, stressing its potential to revolutionize the agricultural and tourism sectors along the coastal regions.

Furthermore, the President clarified that the coastal expressway and the Lagos-Calabar coastal rail projects are separate initiatives, refuting Atiku’s confusion over the two projects.

President Bola Tinubu’s administration has been commended for its commitment to national development through strategic infrastructure investment despite Atiku’s efforts to discredit the government’s efforts.

The statement called on Atiku to prioritize national interests over personal ambitions, and called on him to refrain from waging political campaigns that cause division and disinformation.

In conclusion, the President reaffirmed his dedication to advancing Nigeria’s infrastructure agenda and called on Atiku to engage constructively in nation-building efforts.
