Chappell Roan is not a forgettable person! She proved this over the weekend when she criticized a former theater teacher who kicked her out years ago during one of her performances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter made headlines this week after appearing on stage at the annual festival at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, on Sunday. But in addition to her captivating performances and the number of people who came to see her, the hitmaker “Good Luck, Babe” also caused a stir because of her shocking gesture at the event.
While Roan was introducing the song “My Kink Is Karma”, she took the opportunity to curse at one of her former teachers.
“I usually dedicate this song to my ex but I dedicate this song to my damn drama teacher who kicked me out, b*****! I’m here!” she said in a fan-recorded video clip obtained by TMZ.
Fans weighed in on Chappell’s surprising gesture on X, formerly Twitter., after watching the clip.
One person wrote: “Chappell Roan’s teacher, who kicked her out of the drama club, will never know peace again… and rightly so.”
Another added: “As someone who was bullied by his high school theater teacher, Chappell Roan called his theater teacher at ACL as a way to heal his soul.”
Another quipped: “Today I found out that Chappell Roan was a theater kid but her theater teacher kicked her out of the teacher she belongs on broadway which she has can sing.”
Since her music took off, Chappell has not been afraid to express what she thinks and feels, even when she receives backlash for her sentiments.
She recently withdrew from the All Things Go festival to prioritize her health. She previously received criticism for her decision not to endorse any political candidate for the 2024 election.
Roan also received backlash after she called out her fans and urged them to leave her alone when she was in public.
