Fans have recently been mocking Dolly Parton for the way she pronounces certain words.
In a video shared on X in late June, the country music icon revealed her newfound Welsh roots, but fans couldn’t help but notice a slight lisp as she appeared to say “Welsth” instead of Welsh.
According to Radar Online, social media users were also surprised when the “9 to 5” singer seemed to mispronounce the words “ancethstry” and “streaming” as “sthreaming”.
Parton reposted the video originally shared by Ryan Reynolds, who teamed up with Rob McElhenny to showcase his journey to buying Wrexham Football Club in Wales through the documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” on Hulu.

The article reported that fans and social media users have repeatedly commented in recent years that Parton sometimes has difficulty speaking clearly.
A Facebook user previously commented, “Dolly has dentures or implants?[?] … She looks a little different and talks differently in those new ads.”
“I guess you haven’t been listening to Dolly Parton lately. With her new dentures, her lisp is really bad. But you guys still talk about how sexy she is,” one user on X, formerly Twitter, tweeted last year.
“Dolly now has a lisp when she talks,” another wrote, while a fourth tweeted, “Dolly Parton has a lisp [because of] her facial plastic surgery [I] think her lips are pulled back too far.”
However, an anonymous source told Radar Online that “Dolly has had surgery and modifications to every part of her body in some way, including her teeth.”
“Rumor has it that she has so many veneers and crowns in her mouth that she has a slight lisp. She doesn’t do it on purpose, but some of the words come out funny,” the insider added.
Despite these comments, Parton remains undeterred, the source added.
“People will say what they like. She prefers a big smile with a little stutter to a plain beard,” the source said.

Last year, Parton spoke publicly about her approach to plastic surgery, admitting to her procedures while reflecting on times when she may have gone too far. She said she values her appearance and humorously admitted to enhancing what she has.
“If something is loose, sagging, or dragging, I’ll tuck it in, suck it, or pluck it out,” she told Saga magazine.
“Sometimes you get a hematoma, or sometimes the fillers and Botox can be too much and you have to wait until the swelling goes down to look normal again,” she adds.
