Malam Umar Namadi Dammodi (born 7 April 1963) is a Nigerian Politician to the Governor-elect of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Jigawa State.

While serving as deputy governor of the state, he was elected. He is a chartered accountant and founder of Umar & Co Chartered Accountants based in Kano.

Early life

Umar Namadi was born on 7 April 1963. He was born in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of ​​Jigawa State.

Mallam Namadi attended Kafin Hausa Central Primary School before transferring to Mallam Madori College of Education, obtaining a Level II Teaching Certificate in 1982.

He sat for the A Level Examination in 1984. He passed with distinction, allowing him admission to Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained a Bachelor of Accounting degree in 1987 and later an MBA.

After graduation, Mallam Umar Namadi joined as an Auditor in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

After working in commerce, he transferred his knowledge and talents to the public sector. He was general manager of finance and accounting and general manager of the contribution management department of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) from 2006 to 2013.

He then left the government to pursue a career in business and private practice, serving as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Danmodi Food Manufacturing Limited (Rice Millers), Chairman/CEO of Danmodi Farms Limited, and Partner Managing partner of Namadi, Umar & Co. Chartered Accountants.

Mallam Umar Namadi was appointed Deputy Governor of Jigawa State in 2019 after serving as the state’s Commissioner for Financial and Economic Planning from 2015 to 2019, where he advocated various changes in governance state finances, improving efficiency and transparency.
