Early life and education
Vijay Varma, 37 years old, was born on March 29, 1986 and brought up in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
He hails from a family in Rajasthan and his family still resides in Hyderabad. Vijay has two siblings: an elder brother named Manoj and an elder sister named Shobha.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in commerce, Vijay joined a theatre group in Hyderabad, where he honed his acting skills, but he also worked various odd jobs, including selling mobile plans at Idea Cellular, petrol cards at Bharat Petroleum, and working the night shift at a call centre.
Despite these brief ventures, Vijay knew that his true calling was acting and he couldn’t settle for a traditional 9-to-5 job.
Inspired by a friend imitating a character in a movie “Vastav” (1999), Vijay decided to pursue a career in acting.
He recalled,Copy ka copy forbidden gaya, just like eating Sabyasachi”, referring to an Instagram account that exposes counterfeit designer clothing.
Personal life
In June 2023, Indian actress Tamannaah Bhatia confirmed that she was dating Vijay Varma. They became a couple during their collaboration in the film Lust Stories 2.
Tamannaah was full of affection for Vijay and said that he was someone she looked up to and with whom she had a natural connection. She said that with him, she felt comfortable and did not need to change her entire life. Vijay had become her “A happy place. ”
Profession
In 2005, Vijay applied to the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. Although he was admitted to FTII, his family initially disapproved of his decision.
However, taking advantage of his father’s business trip, Vijay packed his bags and headed for Pune.
After graduating from IIT Bombay, Vijay Varma moved to Mumbai in 2008 to pursue acting opportunities. Initially, he auditioned for television commercials, but it was difficult to get significant roles.
However, his fortunes changed when Indian theatre director Tom Halter recommended him for an English play, Three Short Plays.
This breakthrough led Vijay to participate in many Hindi theatre productions, satisfying his self-worth that he could not achieve through other means.
Apart from his stage work, Vijay also ventured into modelling and acted in various modelling assignments, earning Rs 500 per assignment at that time.
Eventually, his talent and dedication caught the attention of filmmakers, and he began to make a name for himself in the Indian film industry.
