Voters are more likely to say they have a favorable opinion of Donald Trump than they do of Taylor Swift.
According to research conducted by New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and a Siena College poll, 44% of voters have a favorable opinion of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, while 47% of voters have a favorable opinion of former President Donald Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris beats both public figures, with 48% of respondents having a favorable opinion of her.
The poll, which surveyed 2,436 people nationwide, was conducted after Swift endorsed Harris in a post on her Instagram account following the presidential debate, with results collected between September 11 and 16.
The endorsement generated massive traffic to vote.gov, with the site receiving hundreds of thousands of new visits following Swift’s post. Some of the nation’s top data scientists even claimed the endorsement changed the course of the 2024 presidential election.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift wrote. “I am voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend. I think she is a strong, talented leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos.”
Unsurprisingly, Democrats tend to view Swift much more positively than Republicans after her endorsement. According to the New York Times, 70% of Democrats have a positive view of Swift, compared to 41% of independents and just 23% of Republicans.
Conversely, 60% of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Swift, while only 11% of Democrats do.
