Walt Nauta, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, was charged with six counts in a case involving classified documents against Trump.
On Thursday, June 8, Trump was also charged with seven counts of mishandling documents and conspiring to obstruct the Justice Department investigation. The indictment was unsealed the following day.
After learning that Nauta, 40, would also be charged, Trump endorsed him on his Truth Social platform.

Early life
Nauta grew up in Hgat, Guam. He graduated from Southern High School and is said to be a recluse.
Career
His job was a little simpler before he joined Trump as a personal assistant. According to ABC News, he worked as a valet at the White House during Trump’s presidency.
Before becoming a waiter, he worked as a chef at the White House and delivered Diet Coke to Trump every day, according to Forbes.
One of his jobs was as a senior officer, which required him to move boxes full of documents. He resigned as a White House valet in 2021 to become an assistant to the former president.
Trump was at his golf course in West Bedminster, New Jersey, when he learned of his indictment on June 8, 2023. Nauta was seen with Trump at the New Jersey golf club this week, according to CNN.

While Trump will face the bulk of the charges in the indictment, Nauta will face six counts of obstruction and concealment for his alleged conduct.
He accused the people of conspiracy to obstruct, withhold information and withhold records or documents. Trump’s political organization is paying Nauta’s legal bills.
The indictment includes 37 counts against Trump, including 31 counts of willful retention of classified documents.
The remaining charges include conspiracy to obstruct justice, conceal documents or records, corruptly conceal documents or records, conceal documents in a federal investigation, conspiracy to conceal and making false statements, according to CBS News.
In a brief statement on the indictment, Special Counsel Jack Smith said he looked forward to the case going to trial.
