Wunmi Toriola was born on July 11, 1988 into a family of four in Lagos State, Nigeria.
She grew up under the tutelage of a father who many people at the time considered “strict.” When her mother died, young Umi was heartbroken.
She is also from Ogun State and grew up speaking the local dialect, Yoruba.
