Meet Shane From Request to Fame
When Claim To Fame Shane appeared on season 3 of the ABC show, his clues were pretty generic. Shane shared that his famous relative was an Oscar-winning actor, which was one of his two truths and one lie.
Furthermore, thanks to Bianca’s incorrect prediction that got her eliminated from the competition, we now know that Shane’s relative is not Forest Whitaker, as we learned after the premiere. At one point, Shane mentions that he spent at least one birthday at Neverland Ranch as a child, and alludes to his relative being a “Hollywood icon.”
Eleven contestants competed in Season 3 of Claim to Fame, each with a secret celebrity relative, ranging from an Oscar winner to a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to a morning news star. Each week, contestants had to keep their famous relatives a secret while trying to identify their opponents’ relatives. When only one contestant remained, contestants who correctly or incorrectly guessed their opponents’ famous relatives were sent home.
That contestant will receive a grand prize of $100,000 after being crowned champion.
Who is Claim To Fame Shane’s famous relative?
Redditor @bon_salt22 found Shane’s famous relative on Claim To Fame and it’s none other than actor Marlon Brando. His father, Miko Brando, was one of the legendary actor’s 11 children.
During his lifetime, Marlon was married three times. Actress Anna Kashfi was his first. Godfather married in 1957. Christian Brando was born into the family in 1958, but the couple later divorced in 1959. Then, in 1960, Marlon married Movita Castaneda, but a 1968 Philadelphia Daily News article claimed that she was “the wife he never admitted he had” until he swore in a 1961 lawsuit involving Anna Kashfi. Because Movita’s previous marriage was still in good standing, Marlon was able to get an annulment that year.
Shane’s father is Miko Brando (born February 26, 1961) and his aunt is Rebecca Brando (born 1966) are children of Marlon and Movita from their marriage.
Miko, who became an actor, also took inspiration from his father. On his IMDb website, he is listed as having made small appearances in a few films, including Pancho’s Pizza and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. Additionally, Miko starred in Michael Jackson’s music videos for “Thriller” and “You Rock My World.”
Similar to how the singer was with Marlon, Miko was a very close friend of the King of Pop. According to Page six“I was friends with Michael Jackson for over 27 years and my father admired him greatly,” Miko wrote in a 2019 letter to the Los Angeles Times in response to a report that Marlon had made Jackson cry during a dinner conversation about the singer’s sexual orientation. “I did not like my father twisting his words to imply that Michael hurt anyone.”
We also know that the King of Pop’s nephew Dedrick AKA Sigmund Esco “Siggy” Jackson, Jr. will appear on Reputation claim with Shane in part 3.
Marlon reportedly married his Mutiny on the Bounty co-star Tarita Teriipaia in 1962. They remained together until 1972. They had two children together, Simon Brando, born in 1963, and Tarita Cheyenne Brando, born in 1970. According to Australia’s The Age, Marlon is said to have adopted Maimiti Brando (born in 1977), Tarita’s daughter from a previous relationship.
Ten years after Marlon and Tarita ended their relationship, he also adopted Raiatua Brando, Tarita’s granddaughter, born in 1982. However, The Age notes that Maimiti and Raiatua “do not appear in Brando’s biography” and are mentioned in his will.
