Tory Lanez was born Daystar Peterson on July 27, 1992, to Sonstar Shemuel Shua Peterson in Brampton, Canada. Following Tory’s sentencing, after he was found guilty of three counts of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, chaos erupted in the courtroom as his father reportedly rioted and yelled about “evil” prosecutors.

Sonstar and his wife were both heard shouting “cruel injustice.” He shouted, “This cruel system will be judged before Almighty God!”, the Associated Press reported. He then exclaimed, pointing at the two lawyers on the case, “You two are cruel, cruel people. You know exactly what you have done.”

Sonstar continued to scream even after being escorted out of the courtroom. Meghann Cuniff, a senior reporter at Law & Crime, described the situation in the courtroom as “absolutely terrifying” in a tweet.

“Tory Lanez was taken into custody on the spot, handcuffed by the sheriffs. There were six people in the courtroom, two at the door and four behind Lanez, and there was quite a chaotic scene as they tried to control Lanez’s father and stepmother,” Cuniff tweeted. “One woman in the courtroom raised her hands as Tory’s father was screaming about Roc Nation and cruel injustice, repeating ‘In the name of Jesus!’ The sheriffs forced them all into the hallway and told the courtroom we were to remain seated.”

The couple has at least two children; a daughter named Teyhani and a son named Seraphim. Their daughter turned 7 in March 2022. In June 2017, Wonder posted about his daughter, writing, “Our little girl, Teyhani, is a fashionista, she wears my clothes, my shoes, my lipstick, etc. every time we see her grow and how she resembles me, I am reminded of the relationship we have with Jesus Christ, He is our role model and therefore, we should follow His example in all our ways!”

Sonstar also has five other children from his marriage.
