LOS ANGELES: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has postponed the announcement of this year’s Oscar nominations for the second time because of the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, organizers said Monday.
Oscar nominations for the film industry’s highest honors will now be announced on January 23. They were originally set for this Friday and were later moved to January 19.
“Due to the ongoing fires in the Los Angeles area, we felt it was necessary to extend the voting period and move up the nomination announcement date to allow more time for our members,” said Executive Director Academy Executive Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement.

The Academy also canceled its annual Oscar nominees lunch, scheduled for February 10. The Oscars telecast is still scheduled to take place on March 2.
The organizers of the Grammy Awards said the ceremony honoring the music industry will also take place as planned on February 2.
“However, this year’s program will have a new purpose: to raise additional funds to support bushfire relief efforts and honor the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives. to protect us,” Recording Academy officials said in a letter to members .
