MF ghost plot
The story background of “MF Ghost” is set in the future, that is, from the late 2020s to the early 2030s, when self-driving electric vehicles have replaced ordinary cars and become the norm. But in Japan, there is a special group called MFG, led by Ryosuke Takahashi of the “Initial D” series, which is mainly dedicated to street racing using ordinary cars.
Enter a talented newcomer Kanata Katagiri. He was a 19-year-old Japanese-British man who captured everyone’s attention by driving a Toyota 86 and beating luxury European cars such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches.

“MF Ghost” is a manga series written and drawn by Shuichi Shigeno. The manga began serialization in Kodansha Weekly Young Magazine on September 4, 2017. The manga is directly related to Shigeno’s previous work “Initial D”. In October 2018, Shigeno mentioned that the manga was about 1/5 complete. However, in November 2022, the comic announced an indefinite suspension due to the author’s poor health.
Fortunately, it resumed publication on February 20, 2023, but ceased publication again on April 18 of the same year. This time, it was revealed that the manga has entered the “final battle.” The series resumes again on June 19, 2023.
Kodansha is collecting these chapters into a single volume, and the first volume will be published on January 5, 2018. As of February 6, 2024, a total of 19 volumes have been released. In terms of international distribution, Kodansha USA and Comixology announced that they will publish the manga digitally starting on January 11, 2022.
