William Ouko, born 21 November 1962 in Siaya, is a Kenyan lawyer and jurist.
He is a respected jurist and currently serves as President of the Court of Appeal of Kenya.
He was nominated by the Judicial Service Commission on May 5, 2021 to serve as a Supreme Court Judge.
William Ouko’s outstanding achievements earned him the highest honors in the country – Elder of the Burning Spear and Chief of the Burning Spear.

Early life
William Ouko was born in Siaya, Kenya, on November 21, 1962.
Details about his parents’ identities have not been revealed, but it is known that he lived with his parents as a child.

Education
William Ouko is very versatile and has studied other courses besides law. He holds a Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice (MACJ) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Career
In 1987, Mr. William Ouko became a District Judge II (Professional) of the Supreme Court. After two years of service in the judiciary, he was promoted to Deputy Clerk in 1989.
He was promoted again in the profession in 1997. He became the first Chief Justice of the Judiciary.
Climbing the career ladder, he held the position of Accountant of the Judiciary. He was then appointed as the Registrar of the Supreme Court in 2002.
Two years later, in 2004, Mr. William Ouko became a High Court Judge after being appointed to the position. Then, in 2012, he was appointed to the position of Court of Appeal Judge.
He has served in the legal profession for over thirty-three (33) years. William Ouko also served as joint secretary of the Goldenberg Commission of Inquiry.
His outstanding performance during his service days earned him the highest honors in the country – Elder of the Burning Spear and Chief of the Burning Spear.
On 9 March 2018, following an election by his peers, Justice William Ouko replaced Justice Paul Kihara Kariuki. This came after the term of Justice Paul ended, who became the Attorney General of Kenya upon his appointment to the position.
