Rapper Wiz Khalifa is facing serious consequences after smoking marijuana on stage at Beach, Please! Festival in Costinesti, Romania.

During his performance at the popular music festival on July 13, the 37-year-old artist lit up a performance in signature Khalifa style. However, Romanian law prohibits the recreational and medical use of cannabis. He was arrested following his performance, though was eventually released.

He quickly took to social media to apologize for the incident, saying he meant no disrespect by lighting up his cigarette on stage. “Last night’s performance was amazing. I didn’t mean to disrespect Romania by lighting up the stage,” Khalifa wrote on X. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But don’t have a big butt joint next time.”

However, he may not be out of the woods yet. Prosecutors from the country’s Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) have concluded their investigation and indicted the rapper under his real name— Cameron Jibril Thomaz. The rapper, who runs the cannabis brand Khalifa Kush, is being charged with possession of 18.53 grams of marijuana.

“Investigations revealed that during a performance at a music festival in the resort of Costinești, Constanța County, he possessed more than 18 grams of marijuana (a dangerous drug) and consumed a quantity of marijuana another on stage in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette,” DICOT stated.
