early life
Dolph Jr. was born into a black family on July 27, 1985. His parents named him Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and spent the first two years of his life there.
In 1987, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. His grandmother raised him because his parents were cocaine addicts. Their addiction meant that they were barely involved in little Dolph’s life. They were unable to give him and his siblings the necessary parental care.
Dolph has four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. He is the second cousin of rapper Juice WRLD. He received a strict education at his grandmother’s house, who made sure he would develop good moral values.

The music star, who aspired to be a rapper since his teenage years and chose the stage name Young Dolph, released his debut mixtape, Paper Route Campaign, in 2008. Twenty-four months later, he founded the independent music label Paper Route Empire in 2010.
Young Dolph has since released the mixtapes Welcome 2 Dolph World, High Class Street Music, and High Class Street Music 2, which have helped to raise his profile in the Memphis music scene.

The first was in February 2017, and the second was in September 2018.
As his profile in the industry continued to grow, Young Dolph turned down attempts to sign with a major record label, eventually signing a record deal with Empire Distribution. His third album, Role Model, was released by Paper Route Empire and Empire Distribution.
He teamed up with his cousin Key Glock for the collaborative album Dum and Dummer. The project was released in July 2019 and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. It was the first time both artists had top 10 albums at the same time.
Young Dolph released the single Sunshine during the Covid pandemic in 2020. On August 14, 2020, he released his highly anticipated seventh studio album, Rich Slave. The project debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. In March 2021, he and Key Glock released another collaborative album. The album is titled Dum and Dummer 2.
On January 21, 2022, a posthumous tribute album, Long Live Dolph, was released to widespread acclaim.

Rapper Young Dolph has two children, Tre Tre Thornton and Aria Ella Thornton. They are born to his wife Mia Jaye. The couple got married in 2012.
On November 17, 2021, Dolph Jr. was shot and killed by two gunmen. He was buying cookies for his mother at a local bakery when the assailants got out of their car and shot him. According to the autopsy report, he was shot 22 times. He was buried on November 30, 2021.
Dolph Jr. was loved by many for his philanthropic work. He donated $25,000 to his high school. He also donated meals to several needy residents of the city.
