Yvonne Chaka Chaka was born in 1965 in Dobsonville, Soweto.
She along with her siblings (two sisters) Doreen Machaka and Refiloe Machaka grew up with their mother as she lost her father when she was just 11 years old.
Therefore, her mother, Sophie Machaka, was left the sole person to shoulder the responsibility.
