Early life and education
Zainab Abbas was born on February 14, 1988 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. She was raised by her parents, Nasir Abbas, a domestic cricketer, and Andleeb Abbas, a politician. Zainab has a younger brother, Hussain Abbas Mirza, who is a fitness trainer.
Zainab studied at Aston University in Birmingham and then obtained an MBA in Marketing and Strategy at the University of Warwick. She is ethnically Pakistani and Muslim.
Career
Zainab Abbas started her career as a makeup artist at her own studio until 2015. That year, she successfully auditioned to appear as a guest in a cricket show on Dunya News alongside former national team players, this launched her career in sports broadcasting.
She then went to England as a reporter for Dunya News to cover the 2016 tour of the Pakistan national cricket team and appeared as a guest on the BBC’s Test Match Special. Upon her return, she earned a full-time contract to present her own show, Cricket Dewangion Dunya News from 2016 to 2018. She also wrote sports articles for Pakistani news agencies during this period.
Zainab has been the host for the Pakistan Super League since 2016, as well as the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. She has worked with sports broadcasters such as TEN Sports, Star Sports and Sony. In 2019, she became Pakistan’s first female sports reporter and commentator to cover the ICC Cricket World Cup.
In July 2021, Zainab made her debut on Sky Sports as a member of the team broadcasting the inaugural season of The Hundred, becoming the first Pakistani female presenter to do so. She has also hosted two web talk series where she interviewed Pakistani cricketers.

Personal life
Zainab Abbas married her long-time partner, Hamza Kardar, in November 2019 in Lahore. Hamza Kardar is the son of Shahid Hafeez Kardar, who previously served as Pakistan’s Finance Minister and Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.
The couple has been together for more than three years and they have a son named Taimur Hamza Kardar.
