Zweledinga Pallo Jordan (born 22 May 1942) is a South African politician and businessman.
He served in government from 1994 to 2009.
He is a priest and a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress.

Early life
Pallo Jordan was born on 22 May 1942 to Professor Archibald Campbell Jordan and Professor Phyllis Ntantala-Jordan.
He was raised by these two great scholars, who were then active members of the Non-European Unity Movement against apartheid. As a young man, he was a strong opponent of apartheid.
He joined the African National Congress and fled the country, finding refuge in England and the United States, where he also studied.
Education
Pallo Jordan studied at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the United States and at the London School of Economics (LSE).
He completed primary school in South Africa.
Career
Pallo Jordan was an active member of the African National Congress (ANC). He was elected to the ANC’s National Executive Committee (ANC) in 1985.
held various positions such as administrative secretary, convener of the Strategy and Tactics Committee, member of the NEC’s constitutional negotiation and guidance subcommittee, and finally director of information and publicity.
In 1990, he returned to South Africa where he was elected to the National Assembly as a representative of the African National Congress. He has served in various ministerial positions including
- Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Broadcasting (1994–1996)
- Minister of Environment and Tourism (1996–1999)
- Chairman of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee (1999-2004)
- Minister of Arts and Culture (2004–2009) He was also a writer and author, some of his works include A Review of Moses Kotane, The African Revolutionary (1974), The Soweto Uprising, an Analysis (1976), The African Petty Bourgeoisie: A Case Study of NAFCOC (1984), Soviet South African Policy – with Special Reference to South Africa: Some Notes (1990). His works were critical of the Apartheid regime in South Africa at the time.
Personal life
In 2009, a press investigation revealed that Pallo Jordan had falsified his academic records, claiming that he had received a doctorate in philosophy (Ph.D.), and had long used the title Dr. (Dr.) in his name. It was revealed that he never completed his degree at Wisconsin-Madison.
As a result, he resigned from his position at the African National Congress after apologizing for falsifying its results. He was also fired from his position as a columnist for Business Day, a prominent South African newspaper.
Despite this impersonation, Pallo Jordan is still loved and admired by his political party, the African National Congress. He has a primary school named after him (Dr. Pallo Jordan Primary School) in the town of Lady Grey in the Eastern Cape province.
Pallo Jordan is married to Carlyn Roth. This marriage is blessed with children and a beautiful daughter.
