Early life

50 Cent was born to Sabrina Jackson and Curtis James Jackson Jr. on July 6, 1975. He was born and raised in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York City.

He is the only child of his parents. His mother, Sabrina Jackson, died in a fire when he was eight years old. After his mother’s death, he was raised by his grandmother.

He began boxing at age 11, and by age 14, he was a regular at the local youth boxing gym in his community. He adopted the nickname 50 Cent as a metaphor for change.
