Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe died in a helicopter crash in California

Tragedy struck Friday night when a helicopter carrying Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings, crashed near a border city between Nevada and California, claiming the lives of about six people.

Reports indicate that the helicopter was en route to Las Vegas when the fatal accident occurred in California, United States. The crash site near Nipton on the edge of the Mojave Desert became the scene of a horrific accident involving a Eurocopter EC 130.

The helicopter with six people on board tragically crashed Friday night, marking the second fatal helicopter crash in the state in less than a week. The crash came shortly after another incident when a Navy helicopter carrying five soldiers crashed during a routine training flight in Pine Valley, California.

Officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said they received information about the downed plane near Baker shortly after 10 p.m. Friday. Despite efforts to find survivors, authorities confirmed no survivors have been found.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crash, saying it occurred near Nipton, east of Highway 15 near Halloran Springs. As investigations into the tragic event continue, the loss of Herbert Wigwe, members of his family and other passengers on the ill-fated helicopter has cast a shadow of grief over the community.
