Actress Dayo Amusa appreciated Bobrisky’s ‘Best Dressed Woman’ award

Nollywood star Dayo Amusa has expressed her displeasure over recognizing popular cross-dresser Bobrisky as ‘Best Dressed Female’ at a recent movie premiere.

The event, which took place in Lagos over the weekend, saw Bobrisky walk away with the coveted title and a cash prize of N1 million. However, Amusa criticized the decision, saying it was a mockery of the women present at the event.

In a video message shared on his Instagram account, Amusa expressed his disagreement, saying: “I can’t imagine the judges being disrespectful to every woman present. You got to choose a winner, a best-dressed woman and a best-dressed man, and you empowered all the women at the event by awarding the best-dressed woman to a cross.”

She added, “If you feel like celebrating crossdressers, you should create their own category instead of disrespecting women by giving crossdressers the best dressed female award.”

Bobrisky’s victory at the movie premiere “Ajanaku: The Beast of Two Worlds” has garnered significant attention with her attention-grabbing personality on the red carpet. Wearing a stunning black sequin dress, Bobrisky’s look captivated the crowd and earned her the prestigious title.

However, Bobrisky’s recognition caused controversy due to Nigerian laws prohibiting transgender identities and LGBTQ+ rights. Amusa’s comments echoed the sentiments of many, questioning the decision to award the award to cross-dressers over other female attendees.

Bobrisky’s journey to fame through social media platforms like Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram has been characterized by bold fashion choices and unapologetic self-expression.
