Early life
On February 14, 1982, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, also known as Afia Schwarzenegger, was born as the daughter of Augustine and Grace Aciaa Agyei.
She is of Ashanti descent and grew up in her hometown; the suburb of Krofrom in Kumasi, Ghana. She later moved to Johannesburg in her later childhood years.
Education
Her schooling years were considered ‘famous’ as she attended several educational institutions. She received her basic education at Ridge Experimental School and attended the Seventh Day Adventist School in Tamale; northern Ghana.
She also attended two secondary schools; St. Louis Girls’ School and KNUST High School before moving to Johannesburg, South Africa to enroll at Future Flyers Academy.
Career
Now a popular figure in West Africa, Afia Schwarzenegger started her career as a radio presenter on Okay FM for her morning show – Yewo Krom, UTV Ghana’s Kokooko Show and has also worked with Happy FM, Kasapa FM and TV Africa in Ghana.
She rose to fame after starring in a television series titled Afia Schwarzenegger; produced by Deloris Frimpong Manso. She also worked as a flight attendant in South Africa for a very short period of time.
Afia is currently the CEO of a YouTube media outlet – Schwar TV and the host of The Breakfast Show. She is also an ambassador for Orphans in Ghana after being appointed by the Ghana Association of Nurseries and Orphanages.
She founded the Leave2Live Foundation – a vehicle she uses to support victims of domestic violence. She also owns a non-profit organization called Owontaa Street Ministry; which aims to provide food to the less fortunate in Ghana.
Personal life
Afia Schwarzenegger is now the mother of five. She has given birth to three children – John Irvin Geilling, James Ian Geilling and Pena Abrokwah, and adopted two others.
Her first marriage was to a pastor named Godson Yaw Boakye in England but it did not last long after rumors of his previous marriage surfaced.
She then married a South African man before separating to marry a third time to Lawrence Abrokwah.
Afia’s marriage to her third husband did not last long after he accused her of being unfaithful.
Her two sons, John and James Geilling, were the children of a German man before she married; while her daughter, Pena, was the child of her third husband.
Afia’s personal life was marred by numerous controversies as she was “entangled” with Kennedy Agyapon – a member of Parliament, Lawrence Abrokwah – her third husband, Bishop Obinim – a Ghanaian pastor and also John Dumelo on social media.
In 2015, she was arrested for beating a man who stole her iPhone.
