The pop star’s latest single from her album Eternal Sunshine was the direct inspiration for the duo’s 1998 hit song of the same name. Today, the musician took to her official Instagram account to announce that she will be collaborating with the legendary singers to create a remix version of the track containing their new verses.

In the caption, the “Bye” hitmaker said she couldn’t believe this collaboration was real and expressed gratitude to Monica and Brandy for joining her on the song.
A post shared on Instagram
She wrote: “I extend my deepest and most sincere thanks to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me in this moment but also for your generosity, your kindness and the countless ways in which you You inspired me.”
Grande added that she can’t say how much this collaboration means to her and considered the moment a celebration of the two singers.

“Here’s to celebrating you both and the impact you’ve had on every singer, vocal producer, songwriter, artist making today. I love you both so much. Thank you. Thank you!!!!!!” she added.
The recent news comes after Monica and Brandy appeared in the original single’s official music video as they played news anchors introducing Penn Badgely’s character, Mayor Max Starling.
Grande first discussed the song in March when she teased her version, saying she had always been interested in reinterpreting the original song, released in 1998.

Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, the singer initially said it was a “very bad idea”, but at the same time, the majority of fans wanted her to release a “bad girl anthem”. and the new version is ” an enhanced version of that.”
Fans took to the comments section of the announcement and many of them were excited to hear the remix version. One person wrote, “What’s actually going on. Pinch me for a moment.”
“I need 3 to 5 business days to recover from this announcement,” another wrote.
The remix version of “The Boy is Mine” will be streamed on major music platforms starting June 21, 2024.
