early life

Assa holds dual nationality. She was born in Paris on September 17, 1982 to Nigerian parents.

A few years before she was born, her parents immigrated to France in search of a wider world. Before she was born, the Elemide family had been working and studying in France. Her name is Bukola, which was given to her by her parents.

In 1990, two years after she was born, her parents decided to move back to their native Nigeria. The family settled in the city of Lagos, where Mr. Elemide worked as a cinematographer.
