Big Brother star Cameron Hardin’s father is Ray Hardin. Ray is the son of Roy “Bud” Hardin and Sarah S. Hardin.

Ray died on February 17, 2014 at the age of 88. In addition to Ray, Roy is survived by his daughter Betty Hilliard; stepchildren Randy Smith (Cindy) and Bruce Smith (Amy). He was predeceased by his son Royal Douglas Hardin.

Ray, 63, attended Dodge County High School and Cameron University. He is the head football coach at Dodge County High School. He has four decades of experience teaching health, physical education, and driver education.

Ray was the head baseball coach and is currently the assistant head coach and linebackers coach for the Indians football team.

Ray is also the head of the football team’s strength and conditioning program and will be an assistant track and field coach.

After serving on various staffs and managing a middle school athletic program, Ray didn’t land his first high school football coaching position until he was 61. When he was hired as Dodge County’s head coach in early June 2021, he had an impressive resume.

“I came home,” he said. “Honestly, I just felt like things had gotten to the point where I wanted to take a little step back. For me, that was it.” After much deliberation, Ray felt it was time to focus on his family and submitted his resignation as Dodge County’s head coach in February 2023.

“To be honest, I’m not sure I’ve made up my mind yet,” Ray said. “It’s just a tough move. You do something for almost 40 years, and one of your philosophies is ‘don’t give up, don’t give up, don’t give up.’ So it’s hard to, you know, give up. It’s hard to say that word and do it.”
