Billy Ray Cyrus and his ex-wife Firerose have finally settled their divorce.
Cyrus’ attorney announced the news in a statement shared on the singer’s Instagram page on Monday.
Under the divorce settlement, Firerose will not receive any money from her ex. However, Cyrus will give her ownership and royalties to any music the former couple wrote and published together, Page Six reported.
The decision comes seven months after their marriage and nearly three months after Cyrus, 62, filed for divorce from the 35-year-old Australian musician — born Johanna Hodges — citing marital misconduct and irreconcilable differences. He also sought an annulment for fraud.
“Last Friday, the parties reached a settlement agreement at mediation to dissolve their seven-month marriage, and the Court declared the parties divorced this morning,” attorneys Rose Palermo and Jason Talley of Cheatham Palermo & Garrett wrote in their statement on Monday. “Mr. Cyrus is relieved to have moved past this nightmare.”
They added that “several weeks ago, prior to the settlement, Ms. Hodges legally changed her last name from ‘Hodges’ to ‘Cyrus’,” which Cyrus believes “validates his assertion that his ex-wife’s sole motive for marrying him was to obtain his last name.”
In his statement, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer said he was “very relieved” at the outcome of the trial.
An anonymous source close to Firerose told People that she filed to change her last name shortly after she and Cyrus got married in October 2023.
Furthermore, the insider also said Firerose left “without fighting for money” because she no longer wanted anything to do with Cyrus and their “precarious relationship.”

After filing for divorce in June, Cyrus accused Firerose of being a “fraud” who used his last name to further her music career. He also claimed that Firerose had a strained relationship with his daughters.
His accusations were denied by Firerose, whose representatives said the country music icon had used “vulgar tactics to distract from the serious and factual allegations against him”.
Firerose has made a number of allegations against Cyrus, claiming in court documents obtained by People that he “severely abused her verbally, emotionally, and psychologically” during their marriage.
Cyrus’ attorney denied Firerose’s claims in a statement to E! News, calling them “confusing and dubious.”
