early life
Poppy Montgomery was born on June 15, 1972 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The youngest of six siblings, she is the daughter of Nicola (née Montgomery), an executive and market researcher, and Phil Donahue, a restaurateur.
Bobby Montgomery’s parents named their daughters Rosie Thorn Donahue, Daisy Yellow Donahue, Lily Belle Donahue and Marigold Sun Donahue, all after flowers, while their son Jethro Tull Donahue was named after the rock band Jethro Tull.
Poppy Montgomery hated school and was expelled from six private colleges, but at 15 she skipped school to pursue a career in theatre and travelled around Bali with her then boyfriend.
At the age of 18, she came to the United States and went to Florida to meet her lover whom she met as an exchange student.
