early life and education
Bryan Guy Adams was born on November 5, 1959 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Canadian Army Captain Conrad J. Adams and amateur pianist Elizabeth Jane Adams (née Watson).
Adams has a younger brother named Bruce Adams. As a child, Adams accompanied his parents to a diplomatic post in Lisbon, Portugal, where he attended St. Columban’s School; in the 1960s, he attended the American International School of Vienna in Vienna, Austria. In the early 1970s, he attended The Tabeetha School, a Scottish church school in Jaffa, Israel.
Adams grew up in Ottawa and attended Colonel By Secondary School near Beacon Hill. He later moved to North Vancouver while his father was posted overseas, and attended Argyle and Sutherland schools there. Adams is white and Christian.
