Fans of Carlos Santana will have to wait to see him a little longer as a broken finger has postponed his residency plans.
House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino has announced the cancellation of previously planned show dates. In a statement on their website, they said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, performances from January 22 to February 2 have been cancelled. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster.com will be automatic refund. All other refunds will be available at point of purchase.”
The next residency dates are scheduled for May. Universal Tone Management President Michael Vrionis shared a statement with Diversitywhere it was revealed that the canceled dates were due to Santana breaking her finger.
“I’m sorry to report that Carlos was taking a walk at his vacation home on Kauai. He fell badly and broke the little finger on his left hand. He had to have a needle inserted into his finger. Unfortunately, he broke. He will not be able to play the guitar for about six weeks. Doctors say he will make a full recovery,” the statement began.
Vrionis reassured fans that the legendary guitarist will return to the stage soon and that there are still shows planned on his tour throughout the rest of the year.
“Carlos is doing well and looks forward to returning to the stage soon. He just needs to recover. Santana deeply regrets postponing his upcoming performances, but the accident happened and his health is at stake.” is our number one concern. He looks forward to seeing all his fans again soon,” the statement added.
Santana isn’t the only star to cancel recent shows due to illness or injury. Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey has canceled several performances of her annual Christmas show after she encountered a bug while on the road.
The singer announced the news on her social media account, saying: “Newark and Belmont – I wish I had better news but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel shows tonight and Sunday . I’m really sad about it and appreciate your support, MC.”
