Céline Dion sends ‘Love Letter’ to fans with emotional speech during documentary screening

Céline Dion addressed fans for the first time in a long time during the premiere of her documentary, I am: Céline Dionat Alice Tully Hall on June 17, 2024, in New York City, New York.

According to Billboard, Dion received a standing ovation from the audience after the screening. She then addressed her fans with a tearful speech.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being a part of my journey. This film is my love letter to each of you,” Dion said. “I hope to see you all again very, very soon.”

The last time Dion addressed her fans was when she announced her diagnosis last December 2022.

“We now know this is what’s causing all the contractions I’m having,” she revealed at the time. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes making it difficult for me to walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing like I used to.”

Ahead of the release of her documentary, Dion spoke with Today’s Hoda Kotb and recalled the hardships she has experienced over the years. In fact, at one point, she even had to lower her voice to keep up.

She recalls one of her previous performances: “I got on stage and started sounding more nasal. “I might say, ‘It’s off to a cold start’ or ‘This is the third show in a row.’ ‘You’re working too hard.’ But the problem is, I started to feel more stiff.”

Dion revealed that as early as her Take Chances World Tour in 2008, she began experiencing symptoms of this syndrome.

“I told my assistants and people, ‘I don’t know if I can do the show,’” she recalls. “I was very, very, very scared. And then you panic, and the more you panic, the more you spasm.”

Recently, Dion’s foundation announced that it will establish the Céline Dion Foundation Endowed Chair in Autoimmune Neurology. The organization has committed $2 million to the ongoing fight against Autoimmune Neuropathy.
