Charles Maduemezia (born 4 May) is one of Nigeria’s most prolific filmmakers and cinematographers. The Lagos-born creative is known by his stage name Chigan Madu.
A music executive and entrepreneur, Chigan Madu is the founder and CEO of CM Music Worldwide, a leading record label in the country that has produced many underground music artists.
As a content creator, he has worked with many comedians, helping them shoot and direct comedy skits.
Chigan Madu became a big name in the industry after producing the blockbuster Prank Movie, which was highly appreciated by the Box Office.

Early life
Chigan Madu was born on May 4 to George Maduemezia and Gladys Maduemezia in Lagos, where he was also raised along with his siblings.
Eight days after his birth, the Maduemezia family baptized their son Charles Maduemezia.
He is an Ibo boy and hails from the South East, Delta State. He was raised in the Christian faith, learning the teachings of the Bible whenever he went to church. As a child, he joined the Drama unit at his local church and did the same at school where he was an active member of the Drama Society.
Although he performed well in school plays and church plays, Chigan Madu was particularly interested in behind-the-scenes work and took on the role of director. He also worked as a costume designer and stage manager. So his parents were not surprised when he later pursued a career in cinematography.
Education
Chigan Madu has a solid educational background. He attended standard private schools in the mainland of Lagos for his primary and secondary education.
After scoring high marks in the West African School Certificate (WASCE), he was admitted to the University of Ibadan.
He graduated from this prestigious school after four years of study in 2012.
Career
During his time in college, Chigan Madu developed an interest in cinematography and began to receive paid gigs as a cinematographer. He took his craft seriously and soon became a cinematographer, shooting music videos for emerging artists in college. He also worked with other creatives to direct their film projects.
After graduating from university, Chigan Madu found employment at a media company, Cool FM Nigeria. His energetic and creative abilities earned him a promotion to Head of Content at the radio station’s Naija Playlist in 2014. While still holding down a 9-5 job, he also freelanced as a videographer and videographer, offering his services to clients in Lagos.
By 2017, Chigan Madu had risen through the ranks of the industry and became the Head of Production at Pranks Nigeria. That same year, he founded his own media company, CM Music Worldwide. The entertainment company is also a production company and record label. The company is credited with producing Prank Movie, a hit in Nigeria that received good reviews on Box Office and was ranked on Google Knowledge Panel.
As a music director, he is working with several underground artists to refine their sound and create a platform for them to become A-list artists in the industry. Additionally, through CM Music Worldwide, Chigan Madu is contributing to the continued growth of the Afrobeats genre.
When Chigan Madu is not busy with his music activities, he can be found hard at work as a videographer. He has an extensive portfolio of short films, collaborating with many online content creators and comedians.

He is a close friend of MC Edokplor. The pair have collaborated on several short film projects.
