Christopher Julius Rock (born February 7, 1965) is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and filmmaker. This black American celebrity is known by his stage name Chris Rock.
He spent over 38 years as a stand-up comedian and starred in hundreds of films.
He has won four Emmy Awards for acting and three Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album.
Chris Rock is the writer and producer of the hit comedy Everybody Hates Chris. He has hosted the Academy Awards three times, in 2005, 2016, and 2022.

Early life
Chris Rock was born Christopher Julius Rock on February 7, 1965. He was born to Julius Rock and Rosalie Tingman Rock in Andrews, South Carolina.
A few months after Chris Rock was born, his parents decided to move states and began living in Brooklyn, New York. The Rock family first rented an apartment in Crown Heights before moving to the Bedford-Stuyvesant area a few years later.
Chris Rock’s father, Julius Rock, worked as a truck driver and newspaper delivery man while his mother worked as a teacher and social worker (for people with intellectual disabilities).
He comes from a family of nine children, and he is the first born in the family. He has five brothers and one sister. He also has a half-brother named Charles Rock. His siblings are Tony Rock, Kenny Rock, Andi Rock, Andre Rock, Jordan Rock, Charles Rock, and Brian Rock.
Growing up, Chris Rock was bullied by white students. He attended schools in a predominantly white neighborhood. As he grew older, and the bullying did not stop, his parents decided to withdraw him from James Madison High School and enroll him in a new school. He later dropped out of high school to work. However, he eventually earned his GED later in life.
Career
Chris Rock began his comedy career in his early teens. In 1984, at the age of nineteen, he began working as a stand-up comedian in Catch A Rising Star, a New York City-based comedy act. His fortunes changed when he was noticed by Eddie Murphy, who decided to mentor him.
Eddie Murphy gave Chris Rock his first film role in Beverly Hills Cops II. After starring in that film, he began to land more roles in the industry and rise in the American comedy community.
He appeared on Saturday Night Live as a cast member from 1990 to 1993. While starring on the show, he landed roles in the films CB4, New York Jack City, and Boomerang. He wrote and produced CB4.
He also began doing comedy specials, which helped him grow in the comedy industry. His debut comedy album was titled Born Suspect. He became a national star in 1996 after his second HBO comedy special, Bring The Pain, became a commercial success. Other HBO specials include Kill The Messenger, Blacker, Never Scared, and Bigger & Blacker.
He also launched his own talk show, The Chris Rock Show, which aired on HBO. The show was a commercial success and was critically acclaimed as Chris Rock interviewed various celebrities and politicians.
He is the writer, producer, and narrator of the successful comedy Everybody Hates Chris. The film is based on his childhood life. His latest comedy special, Chris Rock: Tamborine, was released on Netflix in 2018.
He has hosted the Academy Awards (Oscars) three times in the 93-year history of the awards show. He hosted the show in 2005, 2016, and 2022. He has also hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) three times. This happened in 1996, 2014, and 2020.
