Christopher Julius Rock (born February 7, 1965) is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter and filmmaker. Black American celebrity known professionally as Chris Rock.

He has spent more than 38 years as a stand-up comedian and starred in hundreds of films.

He has won four Emmy Awards for his acting and three Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album.

Chris Rock is the creator and producer of the popular sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. He has hosted the Academy Awards three times (2005, 2016 and 2022).

Early life

Chris Rock was born Christopher Julius Rock on February 7, 1965. He was born into the family of Mr. Julius Rock and Mrs. Rosalie Tingman Rock. He was born in Andrews, South Carolina.

A few months after Chris Rock’s birth, his parents decided to move and began living in Brooklyn, New York. The Rocks first rented an apartment in the Crown Heights area before moving to the Bedford-Stuyvesant area a few years later.

Chris Rock’s father, Julius Rock, worked as a truck driver and newspaper deliverer while his mother held jobs as a teacher and social worker (for the mentally disabled).
