Early life

Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun was born into the Iperu royal family on 29 May 1960, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.

He was born in Iperu Remo, Ogun East senatorial district, to Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun and Mrs. Victoria Abiodun. Abiodun’s educational background remains unexplored.

In the run-up to the 2019 general election, he was embroiled in a certificate controversy, claiming to have received a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in the form of the 2015 senatorial election for Ogun East but only has a high school diploma under the 2019 governor form.

In a December 2018 interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channel TV, Abiodun “claimed to have never received a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University.”

He serves as managing director and chief executive officer of Heyden Petroleum Ltd., an oil and gas company in Nigeria. According to accounts, he also founded First Power Limited.

Dapo Abiodun has been governor of Ogun State since he won the 2019 general election on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress.

Dapo Abiodun was the board chairman of the Corporate Relations Commission. Prior to this position, he founded First Power Limited and served as chief executive officer of Heyden Petroleum.

Five children were born to the marriage of Dapo and Bamidele Abiodun.
