Early life and education
Sidney Honoride Esirie, popularly known as DR SID, was born on May 1, 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. His father is a famous Nigerian actor, Justus Esirie, and his mother, Omit Esirie, is a well-known businesswoman. He hails from Urhobo in Delta State, Southern Nigeria. He has a brother named Andrew Esirie.
Dr. SID obtained his West African Senior School Certificate from the Nigerian Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja before attending the University of Ibadan to study Dental Surgery and eventually becoming a qualified dentist.
During college, DR SID showcased his artistic talents by participating in various concerts, dance competitions and stage performances, and his outstanding performances won him numerous accolades and awards.

DR SID started his career as a choreographer for Tribesmen in 1999 and has collaborated with many renowned artists including 2Shotz, Sasha P, Del P, Timi Dakolo, Freestyle, eLDee and KB on the chart topping track OYA as part of Da Tribe. While studying for his Masters in the UK, he met JJC Skillz, 419 Squad, R70, Kas, Felix Duke and D’banj, who would go on to become lifelong friends and collaborators.
After completing his studies, Dr. Seede returned to Nigeria and worked at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) before joining the National Youth Service Corps in Yola, Adamawa State. Although he worked in various dental clinics, he never gave up his love for music. In 2007, he took a bold step and left the dental clinic to focus on his music career, signing with one of the country’s most prestigious record labels, Don Jazzy’s Mo Hit Records.
As a member of Mo Hits Allstars, DR SID contributed to the release of 7 of the 15 tracks on the Curriculum Vitae (CV) album, including the hits Booty Call and Close to You. Between 2006 and 2008, he performed at some of the country’s most important events, including the Thisday Festival and Star Mega Jam.
DR SID released his debut studio album, Turning Point, under Mo Hits Records and Don Jazzy in 2010. The album featured hits “Something About You” and “Pop Something” and was a huge success, with “Over The Moon” topping most Nigerian music charts at the time.
After the dissolution of Mo Hits Records, DR SID moved in with Don Jazzy, who founded a new record label, Mavin Records, and became a part of the label. In 2013, he released his second album Siduction under Mavin Records, which included the hit songs Surulere, Baby Tornado with Alexandra Burke, Oyari with Tiwa Savage, and Last Bus Stop.
