Egypt’s Al-Azhar University opens a campus in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Grand Mufti of Egypt Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayad has announced the opening of Al-Azhar University campus in Pakistan.

During a meeting with Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr. Ayad said that it is important for people to learn Arabic so that they can understand the true teachings of Islam.

He said that Al-Azhar University is one of the staunch supporters of women’s education. He said that Al-Azhar University will promote not only the teachings of Islam but also Arabic culture so that the two countries can come closer together.

Khalid Maqbool Siddique said that Egypt and Pakistan have strong cultural and Islamic bonds. He said that Pakistan and Egypt both have civilizations that are among the oldest in the world.

He said that Al-Azhar University is of great importance for the entire Muslim world. He said that his dream was to visit an educational center for Islamic teachings.

Education Minister Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said the education ministry will extend all support for the establishment of Al-Azhar University campus in Pakistan.
