How to perform Eid prayer
Before starting to pray, the first thing you should do after waking up in the morning is:
Perform ghusl (purification ritual).
It’s nice to have something to eat. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to eat dates before going to pray.
One must wear one’s best clothes!
Muslims are encouraged to clean up, wear their best clothes, and smell fresh during the holidays!
Say a common takbeerat on the way to Eid prayers.
When you are ready to pray, plan to perform the Eid prayer. Give the opening takbeer (‘Allahu Akbar’) to the imam.
Silently say the opening prayer to yourself.
Make three more requests to the imam, raising your hand for each request. Listen to Imam recite Surah al-Fatiha and other Surahs..
Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ while moving into ruku with the imam and wishing everyone else and continue the prayer cycle as usual.
In the second rakah, listen to Surah al-Fatihah and any other surah.
Give three more takbeers to the imam.
After the third and final takbeer, you must place your hands to your sides before performing the ruku again.
Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ while taking a bowing position towards the imam and complete the rest of the prayer cycle as usual.
