Erik Manuel Lamela Cordero is an Argentine professional soccer player. He was born on March 4, 1992 in Carapachay, Argentina. Lamela’s parents are José Lamela and Miriam Lamela, and he has two older brothers, Brian Lamela and Axel Lamela.

Career
Erik Lamela started his professional career with River Plate in Argentina. He made his debut for the first team on 14 June 2009, in a match against Tigre, coming on as a substitute in the 80th minute.
Lamela scored his first goal for River Plate on 5 December 2010, in a match against Colón. Later that season, he scored again against Lanús, helping River Plate win 4-2.
In 2011, Lamela moved to Italian club Roma for an initial fee of 12 million euros, plus a potential 2 million euros in bonuses. He joined Roma on 6 August 2011 and made a solid start to the 2012–13 season, scoring his first goal of the campaign against Bologna on 16 September 2012.
Lamela then went on an impressive scoring streak in October and November 2012, scoring 7 goals in 6 matches against Udinese, Atalanta, Genoa, Parma and Palermo.
However, Lamela’s time at Roma ended in disappointment as the club finished 6th in Serie A and missed out on European competition for the second consecutive season.
In addition, they also lost to rival Lazio in the Coppa Italia final. On 30 August 2013, Tottenham Hotspur completed the transfer of Lamela from Roma for a club record fee of £25.8 million, plus £4.2 million in bonuses.
At Tottenham, Lamela became a key player, making over 250 appearances for the club over eight seasons. In the summer of 2021, Lamela was involved in a swap deal, moving to Sevilla in exchange for Bryan Gil. Lamela has started strong at his new club, scoring twice on his La Liga debut in a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.
However, Lamela’s time at Sevilla was interrupted by a shoulder injury in November 2021 that kept him out of action for four months.
