Early life

The famous Chief and Mrs. Nwifuru Nwamkpu raised him in a polygamous family. Chief Uzoamaka Nwifuru was the wife of Hon. Nwifuru.
There are five children in the family. In 1991, Professor. Nwifuru enrolled in Oferekpe Agbaja Community Primary School.
In 1999, due to his continued efforts in studies, he transferred to Community Secondary School, Nwofe Agbaja.
His academic efforts were at times challenging. He only occasionally went to school and helped his brothers take care of his father’s cattle.
However, his devoted mother, Okweru, was instrumental in ensuring his son received the necessary Western education. He completed his high school studies with honors in May/June 2004.
After completing his post-primary education, Ogbonna, now known as “Francis,” whose baptism—the sacrament of entry into the Catholic faith—began a new chapter in his life.
At that time, he left his biological parents to live with Chief (Hon.) Boniface U. Ofoke is a man who has dedicated his life to teaching, investing and training others. He was also a pioneer in promoting Western education.

Career
His first political attempt came in 2007 when he unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly representing his state constituency.
Thereafter, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appointed him as ex-officio state executive member of Ebonyi State.
He tried again in March 2011 and was elected to the Ebonyi State House of Assembly to represent Izzi West Constituency.

He also became Chairman of the House Committee on Lands, Surveying, Urban Development and Environment and Deputy Chief of Staff during that time.
He was re-elected in 2015, becoming the fifth President of the National Assembly. He was also re-elected in 2019 to the same positions, making him the only Ebonyi State House of Assembly member to serve as Speaker twice.
He was selected in 2020 to serve as National Vice Chairman of the Conference of Southeastern Nigerian State Legislatures. Nwifuru received a total of 199,131 votes from 13 local governments in the state to win the election as the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ebonyi governorship in 2023.

In March 2016, there were rumors that the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arrested the governor-elect.
However, he denied the allegations. Nwifuru clarified that he only went to the EFCC South East zonal office in Enugu on invitation.
