Ron Ross was fired from Sirius XM in March 2023 after 16 years with the company.
Frustrated, the radio host took to his Twitter on March 7 to write: “Wow, I survived a merger, a heart attack, and a global pandemic, but after nearly 16 years, it’s all over. I was fired from @SiriusXM yesterday in their purge. No more #RonRossMorningShow. Thank you, thank you, thank you for welcoming me into your morning. We had some fun, didn’t we?”
Obviously, this makes many managers uncomfortable.
“@SIRIUSXM I’m so sad that you canceled Ron Ross on Pulse. He’s a great DJ and a joy to listen to during my morning commute. My motivation to continue subscribing to SiriusXM is down to 0. Sadly, greed is killing this company and I don’t want to be a part of it,” one fan wrote.
While another added: “So sad to see this! My morning commute is not the same. But the best and most beautiful things will come to you.”
But in defense of Sirius XM, it announced that it would lay off about 475 people, or about 8% of the company’s total workforce. The layoffs come after advertising dollars began to dry up in the face of economic uncertainty.

Then in 2011, he was promoted to program director responsible for all aspects of the 90s across nine channels. There, he coordinates playlists, writes visuals, conceives and implements special programming features, creates original content like Countdown Replays of the Day, and manages staff.
Before joining Sirius XM, Ron worked as a morning show producer at iHeartRadio from April 2001 to November 2006. There, he supported all aspects of the live radio morning show Award-winning daily host in major markets, including writing comedy scripts, liaising with guests and coordinating personal appearances by morning show stunt men. He also compiles, writes and delivers hourly newsletters.
