When her father died, she moved to the United States permanently. She was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s closest friends and was known for her prominent social and political connections. Jeffrey Epstein had a history of sex crimes.

Because of her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell became a suspect in all of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes. She was sued primarily for forcing children to have sex with Jeffrey Epstein and other famous clients.

She has consistently denied the charges, but they were made abundantly clear to the public after a number of court documents were unsealed on August 9, 2019, the day before Jeffrey Epstein was found dead (apparently by suicide) in his jail cell.
