Ghislaine Noelle Marion Maxwell (born 25 December 1961), known professionally as Ghislaine Maxwell, is a British socialite, sex trafficker, and businesswoman.

She made headlines when she and her late partner, Jeffrey Epstein, were charged with sex trafficking. She is the youngest child of Robert Maxwell and a successful author. Ghislaine Maxwell was a prominent member of London’s elite in the 1980s. She also quickly established connections in American social circles.

When her father died, she moved to the United States permanently. She was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s closest friends and was known for her prominent social and political connections. Jeffrey Epstein had a history of sex crimes.

Early life and education

Elisabeth Maxwell and Robert Maxwell welcomed Ghislaine Maxwell into the world on December 25, 1961, in Maisons-Laffitte, France. She had eight siblings: Christine Maxwell, Ian Maxwell, Kevin Maxwell, Isabel Maxwell, Michael Maxwell, Philip Maxwell, Karine Maxwell, and Ann Maxwell, with whom she grew up.

Most of her formative years were spent at Headington Hill Hall in Oxford, a historic estate that her father leased to Pergamon Press as offices and residences.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s mother, Elisabeth Maxwell, was a French scholar, and her father, Robert Maxwell, was an English media magnate and founder of the “Pergamon Press”. Her mother was a Huguenot, while her father came from a Jewish family.
