early life

Gyakie was born in Bumpso town in Kumasi in 1998. She is from Abuakwa, another town in Kumasi.

She is the daughter of Ghanaian music legend Ernest Owoahene Nana Acheampong. Her father is a member of the popular band Lumba Brothers.

From a very young age, Gyakie showed signs that she would become a musician like her father, as she was blessed with a strong voice from an early age.

She was an active member of the church choir and served as one of the lead singers.

Gyakie completed her primary education in Kumasi.

She completed her secondary education at TI Amass and obtained her West African School Certificate from the institution.

She graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business.

Gyakie joined the Ghanaian music scene in 2019. Her debut single was “Love Is Pretty”. The song became a hit on local radio and television for weeks.

Her debut EP, SEED, was released in August 2020. The five-track EP showcases Gyakie’s experimentation with different sounds.

In 2020, she invited famous artiste Bisa Kdei to be part of her single titled “Sor Mi Mu”. She has collaborated with artistes such as Elom ‘EL’ Adablah and Kuvie.

She became a national star after releasing the hit single “Never Like This”.
